On Friday, the Canadian Children's Book Centre announced the finalists for their seven major book awards. Violins of Autumn is a finalist for the Geoffrey Bilson Award for Historical Fiction! This is my first nomination, so I'm pretty thrilled about it.
The winners will be announced at an invitation-only gala (a gala! Eeep!) in October. Writer-attire tends to be stretchy and comfortable, so needless to say, I don't have a whole lot of dressy clothes in my wardrobe. I now have a very good reason to shop! And some of the nominees are friends I've known for years online. At the gala, we'll finally get to meet.
Congratulations and good luck to all the finalists!
Violins of Autumn
Written by Amy McAuley (London, ON)
Walker Publishing Company, Inc.
for ages 12 and up
"A thrilling and action-packed spy/coming-of-age story set during the Second World War… It is an intense and gripping tale that chronicles not only the efforts of those who were valiantly working to undermine the efforts of the Nazi invaders, but also portrays the bravery of ordinary men and women who worked in myriad small ways to support the Resistance as they sought to hasten their liberation."

Feature Friday Interview
Today I am the Feature Friday author on Writing 4 Two, a blog by two moms, Shannon and Gina, chronicling their writing journeys. I discuss the inspiration for my books, my road to publication, how I reacted the day I got "the call" telling me a publisher had made an offer for my first book, and more. I'm also giving away a signed copy of Violins of Autumn!
